CRISIS PROGRAM
The Crisis and In-Home Intervention Program provides 24-hour a day emergency intervention for youth who may otherwise be placed in hospitals, institutions or group shelters. The Crisis Program utilizes licensed treatment foster homes located primarily in Calvert, Charles and St. Mary's Counties to provide a caring family environment in the least restrictive and most normalized setting possible.
The Crisis Program aims to prevent unnecessary hospitalization for youth who require out of home placements, shorten the length of stay for youth who are hospitalized and stabilized and yet are not clinically ready to return home, and receive youth from the residential treatment centers, group homes and other treatment facilities who require a step-down or transitional period prior to the implementation of a permanency plan. Because treatment foster homes are established in all three of the Southern Maryland Counties, the adolescents in care are able to continue in school, clinical pursuits and various extra-curricular activities, while remaining close enough to home for family therapy and reunification planning.
